HUMAN SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Applications are now available for the City of Rockford Human Services Department 2012 Scholarship Program. Applicants must have household income below 125% of the federal poverty level, reside in Winnebago or Boone County, and plan on attending a post secondary accredited school or training program located in the state of Illinois in the fall of 2012. There is no age requirement. The average scholarship award is $1,000 with multiple awards available. The financial assistance is paid directly to the institution for costs of tuition and textbooks.

*Applications, which include more detailed eligibility information, are also available at the office of the City of Rockford Human Services Department, Community Services Division, at 555 N. Court St., Suite 301. Completed applications and supporting documents must be received at this office no later than 4:00pm, Friday, March 23rd, 2012. Selected candidates will be called to interview.

Boone and Winnebago Counties Offer Warming Centers

The City of Rockford Human Services Department announces the warming center list for the 2011- 2012 winter season for Winnebago and Boone counties.

The ability to provide safe locations for area citizens to go during cold weather is important to ensuring that residents stay both safe and warm during extreme temperatures. These warming sites serve as an important resource for those without housing as well as those who may not have the resources to heat their homes adequately.
